Enough!

                  I wonder, in all of the stores in the world,
                        with all their competitive bosses;
          is there no one so tough he can just say "enough!
                      the world has no need of more sauces!"

                        made with paints or collages or scrap;

                  then you spy one up there that makes you declare,

                            " oh, how I'd like to do that!"

Underneath

                     
                 When you look at a snowy hydrangea,
                       and discover its busy interior,
                 we might ask how much are we hiding
                        beneath our showy exteriors?

Botany lesson

                    I was stopped in my tracks at the store today,
                       when I saw this surprising bouquet;
               I was sure I'd been right,  - that all calas are white,
                    well, we learn something new every day!

Procreation!

                   Nature, we'r'e told, has only one aim,
                       to see that each species advances;
             one limb may be gone, but the plant must go on , 
                         she's not taking any chances.

                             What kind of a genius is it,
                          who can show, with one stroke of a pen,
               through the eyes of a man, on a tenuous span,
                           a whole magical mise-en-scene!

Snail show

   
    I never gave a snail much thought,

                   I took them quite for granted;

                           but when, by chance, I saw one dance,

                                      he kept me quite enchanted!

Still skill?

                            Nature has ways to distract us,
                               to test our observant skill;
                    try this little trick, - just look at this pic,
                           and try to keep your eyes still!

Glory!

               When the world seems headed for Doomsday,
                       and you're facing a daunting abyss, -
               all seems in tatters,  but nothing else matters
                      when you wake to a sight like this!

Journey

                   What a wonderful journey I think it would be,
                           to go through our lives like this;
              not with powerful strides, but elegant glides, -
                       now that,  I would surely call bliss!

Persistence!

                         How is it possible, day after day,
                     when those rollers sweep into shore,
               they bang on the stones 'til it rattles your bones,
                          but always come back for more!

Arrmageddon!

                      If our planet is planning to blow up soon,
                           I guess there's no way to flee it;
                    but if it's like this, I don't want to miss it,
                              where can I go to see it?

Sad sack

                      Is this what my maker intended for me?
                                  Is this the end of my tale? -
                     to end in some chintzy convenience  store,
                           and hang by my neck on a nail?!

Decor

                                I try to be kindly to artists,
                          but sometimes my tolerance palls;
              though I wish them my best, it's  hard to digest
                      what some people put on their walls!

Masterpiece?

                          They think it's an ancient canvas,
                            a harbor? with vessels afloat?
                          they all try to guess, until I confess, -
                           it's just peeled off a derelict boat.

Rear view

                       What if I had to look back every day,
                             to revisit the life I'd just led;
          would I learn something new with this daily review,
                       or just beat myself over the head?

Ambition!

                            Why is it that in every family,
                         whatever its nature, - same thing;
                there always is one that can't be outdone,
                          the one who just has to be king!

Drive it yourself!

                 You see all those hard-working tractors,
                   and you wonder how those fellows do it;
                well just take a look, it's here in the book, - 
                  you can see there is nothing much to it!

Leaf lesson

             

                     I'm trying to learn from this green leaf,
                         with its curly grandfather below,
                    that I don't have to fret, cuz the older we get,
                         the more interesting we can grow!

Junior

                                                  I never saw a pine cone
                                     when it was just a pup;
                                I wonder if he wonders how
                                he'll look when he grows up.

                      What kind of person made that kind of print
                              in the still-soft surface that day?
                 Pretend it was you that was just passing through,
                              then you try to walk that way! 

Blown mind

 

                                 This is a shot of my mind today, 
                                so I can't offer much to you;
                       I'm just tearing my hair and close to despair, -
                              what a new computer can do!

Discovery

When you're young. just discovering the ocean,

and feeling that wonderful air;

 you can spend all the day just dreaming away,

of a world that is waiting out there.

New start?

                         This art piece is called "Reinvention",
                           and perhaps it's a way to begin;
                     if we could get real reinventing the wheel,
                         would it help us start over again?

                                            They talk about wabi-sabi,
                        how it's simple and honest and stuff;
                        but this fellow here has his own idea, -
                                he thinks it's a lot of guff!

Recognition!

                       Once in a while it's nice to receive,
                       something you've really deserved;
       when you've spent your whole life through turmoil and strife,
                     you're bound to be fully "preserved"!

Green grass growing

                        Sometimes it's the simplest things I see
                              that I find such a joy to behold;
                      the fresh growing greens, the watery scenes,
                               how they quiet a restless soul!

In mourning?

   

                          I came by your corner this morning,
                               and saw this unusual view; 
                     your siblings are always orange and blue,
                                whatever happened to you?

Wise advice

                          Let us take a short pause for Clifford, 
                               who met his departure so oddly;
                   he would clearly be clean at the end of his scene,
                   which should surely have made him more godly.
