Brinksmanship

                When you see that fellow on top of the roof,
                  do you think he enjoys looking 'round?
        ....or remembers to think as he goes down the brink,
                          to be sure not to look down!

Visitors?

                                  I never was a believer,
                       of strange flying objects and such;
               but what can you do when they prove it to you
                            with such an aesthetic touch?

Demolition

          When those monster machines start to tear a house down,

                        they quickly demolish the past;

                but it doesn't seem fair if the memories there

                         should all disappear that fast!

Somewhere else?

                  
                  When the light comes at just the right angle, 
                        and the houses at just the right stand,
                  you can dream just a bit that you've taken a trip,
                         and you've wound up in pyramid-land.

Dreamland

                 There are times you find yourself asking,
                    are things really what they seem?
                 ... and then one night a celestial sight
                      assures you you live in a dream!

Chilly filly

               Where is he taking me now, do you think?
                         I don't mean to be a scold;
          but since he first formed me, he's never informed me,
                       doesn't he know I get cold?

Back tomorrow

                   If it's one of those days when things get too bad,
                        you're frustrated, fed-up, or ailing;
                     there's only one way to salvage the day, -
                       put a sign on the the door and go sailing!

Exit, remembering

                           This artist has deftly pictured
                     our egress from a life of hard knocks;
            with our memories of dancing and all that romancing,
                      ....and she built it all in a box!

King Teddy

                       It would surely be nice to be teddy bear king, 
                              you never could do any wrong;
                        you'd never get bored or have any chores, 
                          and you'd get to be hugged all day long!

                         ...and that makes you the new king?
                    Since when is it you that decides who's who?
                               Nobody is "just a thing"!

Nature's Own

                        I envy the artist who portrays a scene,

                            on canvas or timber or stone;

                  but Nature has ways of producing displays

                           in original forms of her own.

Lost at sea

                Oh who could have lost this poor lonely shoe?

                         Is some lovely lady crying boo hoo?

           Does she stand on the sands just wringing her hands?

                            ...or doesn't this bother you?

Collision course?

                I know that a sailboat's a tricky thing,

                   it demands a firm hand and precision;

           so grab hold of that stick and Do Something Quick
                    or there'll be one monster collision!

Sea Scene

                    Whatever the shape the sea may assume,

                      with its puddles and inlets and shoals,

                   at peace or in storm,whatever its form,

                       it knows how to speak to my soul!

Art-chitecture

              When you've painted a bunch of big paintings,
                      and you want them all to be seen;
            if you cant find a hall that can handle them all,
                         just borrow the village green!

                   If I had owned one of these creatures,
                    I would have been proud, of course:
                 but, bearing in mind what I'd left behind,
                            wouldn't I miss my horse?

Timeless type

                         Remember the ancient typewriter,
                          You thought it had had its day;
                       but an artist will say it will never decay,
                           if you fashion it out of crochet!

Doorway

                        When you see that doorway just waiting,
                                singing its soft silver song;
                          what if you tried to venture inside, 
                          what might you discover beyond?

Water wonders

                      When a tree sees itself in the water,

                       it's always a source of delight;

          but when the winds blow, it adds to the show,

                       stirring up a spectacular sight!

Just junk

                    Sometimes when  you pass by a building site,

                            with its junk all tossed in a pile,

                   a quick shaft of light hits a spot in the site,

                          and you walk on by with a smile.

One at a time...

                              If I had a house like this one, 
                            and had a large party for lunch,
         I'd urge them, when through, to come look at the view.
              BUT DON'T ALL GO OUTSIDE AT ONCE1

Marin?

                        Is this a survey, perhaps, of Marin,

                           with all of the pleasures it holds:

            the arts and the bridge and the boat and the bay, -

                           a favorite place to grow old!

Capitol plans

                       I marvel at builders a century back, - 
                           the proportions they visualized; 
                  How did they know how fast we would grow,
                        so  that now it would be the right size?

Moon magic

                             What is it about moonlight
                          that casts such a magical spell?
                  The places you know are all cast in a glow,
                       and the glow melts your heart as well.

Duality

                   Artists, it seems. can see both sides of man

                            and then distinctly design them;

                 our darkness and light, - how nice if we might

                                  so easily define them!

Frog''s fantasy

                        When I see these lovely green islands, 

                              I'm sure they were meant for me;
                   If I made one my own, I could sit on my throne,
                           and pretend I'm the king of the sea!

Deathly Hallows?

                         Well,what is this that we have here, - 

                                 do I detect a plotter?

                           to make us think we're entering

                              the realm of Harry Potter?

Short trip?

                         It looks like he just is hitting the road 

                      on  a trip that seems rather encouraging;

                   It's a shame if the sign makes him change his mind, -

                            it does look a bit discouraging. 

Inside ride

                           Some people like hotel cruising,
                   with gambling and floor shows, (high tech);
              but the whole of your ride you'll travel inside, - 
                          you can't even walk on a deck!

Dragon?

                             Is that a dragon I see, Mama?

                             like it's flying over the park?

                 "No no, my dear, you've nothing to fear,

                                it's just eucalyptus bark!"  

Disapproval

                   Whoever they are, wherever they lived,

                      how they ever acquired that sneer,

              they clearly convey what they're trying to say

                         "We don't approve of it here!"
