Morning glory
It's hard to get up in the morning,
it's never a moment of bliss;
but how could you help but start smiling,
if you''re met with a greeting like this?!

RSVP
I've hung on this wall forever, it seems,
howllng my woes in thin air.
Can't somebody answer me sometime?
It really doesn't seem fair!

Tasty two-some
I reached for a clove of garlic,
but I'd left it too long in the drawer.
Now I couldn't disturb this young couple,
I'll have to go back to the store.

Abandoned!
They tossed us both to the back of the car,
then, laughing, went out to play.
Let's hope when these little monsters grow up,
they won't treat their children this way!

Shadow world
Sometimes when you're nearing the end of the day,
and shadows are painting the wall;
it looks like a magical world out there,
and tempts us to answer the call.

Stalker
I know I am being followed,
he's hiding back there in the thicket.
Should I call for the marsh-bird police
to give him a stalking ticket?

Gleeful guest
If there are fairies at the bottom of my garden,
I hope one fairy will be
this cute little elf, who's splashing herself,
in a marvelous moment of glee!

Rose lesson
I watched my rose grow through its cycle, -
the first bud emerging from green,
through promising stages of color and life,
to her royal reign as the Queen.
But then when I thought she'd be shedding her blooms,
as she came to the end of her story,
I was awed to discover she'd opened them more
in a last culmination of glory
I sat back in wonder, digesting the thought,
when I heard my rose saying to me,
"Remember, my friend, when you're nearing the end,
be all you can possibly be!"

Little dears
Little dears come in all sizes and shapes,
it's as if they were born blood brothers;
and when they are seen across the green
they always are drawn to each other!

New bee
Which of these holes is the right one?
This is the first time for me .
Does the queen watch while we're working?
What if she doesn't like me?

History lesson?
The scene on the mailbox reminds us
of a world we lived in before.
The question for me, is how soon will it be
that we won't need a mail box at all anymore.

Sprouts' doubts
As a sprout, I just know that we're all 'sposed to grow,
like our Dad, to be monstrously tall.
But gee, I don't know, that's a long way to grow,
and how can there be room for us all?!

Dragonfly grumbles
Why should someone as gentle as I,
have to be known as a dragon fly?
Think of all the mosquitoes and insects I eat,
you ought to be grateful and bow at my feet!

Cat--tales
Don't turn up your nose at a cat-tail,
though a nuisance to some I expect;
But learn how we kept your ancestors alive,
and give us a little respect!

Mutiny!
To all of us dogs and our loved ones,
please join in this oath on our blog,
"If ever we're seen in a suit so obscene,
may we never more call ourselves DOG!"

Visitation?-
I came on this curious formation
in the grasses that grow by the lake;
and I wondered what strange kind of
creature had passed,
to leave such a puzzling wake.

Raven's rant
When us ravens have a contention,
it's for sure we can always be heard;
But when I'm at the top of the lamp post,
I expect to have the last word!

Butterfly's d'ruthers
I know black and white is dramatic,
and it's nice to be noticed, it's true.
But I'd love, for a change, if I
could arrange
to be orange, or purple, or blue.

Observer
I'm glad I staked out this spot for myself, -
looking down from the top of the fence.
I can sit here and stare at the people down there,
and try to make some kind of sense.

Sun beams
I picked out this sweet little bloom today,
so lovely and yet so simple;
So I shined my best morning beam on her,
and brought out all of her dimples.

Seductive steps
There's a pathway that always entices,
the one I would take if I could.
It always holds promise of wonder and awe, -
it's the path that leads into the woods.

Grounded!
Why am I bound here, tied to the ground,
when I know where a sailboat should be:
with a full set of sails, in the teeth of a gale,
on the crest of a wave, running free!

Gopher greetings
I like the soft earth in a garden,
it's a comfortable place to be.
And I like to say "hi", if someone
passes by,
but they just holler at me!

Shark,stranded
I thought that us sharks were the masters,
I dreamed I 'd be king of the sea.
Oh don't make me die here for boasting,
Please, somebody, pity me!

anatomy lesson?
I don't know that much about structures of trees,
I've left it to Nature's design.
But I never thought trees had a backbone,
and vertebrae just like mine!

Felicity
When I'm watching the birds
on the water,
it's hard to know which I prefer.
But I have a soft spot for the mallards,
'coz he always travels with her.

Take-off
I saw this great piece in an art show,
and I sighed and wished it was I.
What a feeling of ease, just to
catch the next breeze,
give a flap to your wings, and FLY!
(art work by Phyllis Thelen)

Householding
You people think you have problems
with issues that we snails may lack.
But how would you feel, if you had to deal
with your whole house attached to your back!

Enchantment
The moon poured into my room last night,
and the Lorelei started their tune;
luring my flight through the perilous night
to dance all the way to the moon.
