Today

Dear friends I fear that at this stage,
You'll get no picture on this page;
I'm in a spot that  I don't prize,-
For  I have been hospitalized;
 it seems they found my flagrant sin
Is lacking proper oxygen.

Well, soon I hope they'll have me fixed,
And you will get the proper pix;
But meanwhile pray don't get enraged,
And fail to watch this hopeful page!

Advice to rattlesnakes

If you see sunning bodies on decks sometimes,
And wonder if they should stay;
They are natural parts of our national parks,

Do not try to chase the away!

Glub glub

                                                    I thought I had found a new buddy,
                                                              He was just a little ahead
                                                 I'd just said "Hello",now where did he go?

Captive

                                Oh what a deadly dilemma,

                              to be caught in a spider's web!

                  My mind starts to reel and my heart to congeal,

                   when I think what must go through his head!

Bubbles

Now what have we found in this little pond

some nosy chap greeting the day;

dear bubbly duck, I wish you good luck,

before you just bubble away!

Clean up?

                         The way the world is now going,

                        there are battles all over the map,

              and when they're all through, then what do they do?

                    ... just leave us to clean up the scrap.

Move up!

          If you find that dark clouds are weighing you down,
                  (although, when it's hot, you love them),
         just treat them like troubles that weigh on your mind, -
                  shake them off, and rise up above them!

Sad sacks

                      And who are these mournful minstrels.
                     who have risen, it seems. from the sea?
                   ..an onerous chorus, but maybe not for us,
                          they do seem depressing to me!

Address mess!

                If your garage bench looks remotely like this
                         (and no, this is not modern art!)
             you know it's obscene, that it has to be cleaned,
                        but I ask you, where do you start?

Blessing

                  I looked up at the rays of the afternoon sun,

                  shining down through the grove of palm trees;

                     and I saw the arms at the top of the tree, -

                                 an angel was blessing me!

Heady stuff

                  It was just the two of you out on the deck,

                       with the glow of the moon overhead;

              tell me what, in your petting,was so upsetting,

                           to cause him to lose his head?

Wistful?

                            I wonder if grandpa mushroom, 

                            watching the children at play,

                       ever wonders if he, in his past history,

                              was ever as winsome as they?

Field day

                  "Where are we going, does anyone know, -
                    shouldn't they ask us, did we want to go?"
               "What do you care?" "Well it should be a rule"
                "What does it matter, we get out of school!"

Complaint

                            You hardly need a translation
                            when this fellow has his say;              
                      he makes it quite clear to anyone near
                        that things are not going his way!

Dinner?

                  What do you want with a leaf, Charlotte,

                          is it something you plan to eat?
                 It doesn't seem tasty, but if you're not hasty
                       do you just let it cook in the heat?

Hedge hogz/

                       He looked sort of like a hedgehog,
                             hiding out in the leafy glen,;
                     and I wondered, not just what he was,
                          but what he might have been.

Landscape?

                         Well yes, it looks like  a landscape,

                          but you really can't tell any more;

        when there's nothing but guns and air strikes and bombs,

                             nothing's the same as before!

Quandary

                                 Having 5 apples is good, am I right?
                   but the apples have bugs, - and that's sad;
            still some parts are good looking and O.K. for cooking,
                    so is having 5 apples still good?..or bad?

Hero

                        This lad's a hero, as we've seen, 

                       he helps to keep our planet green.

                     We do not like him when he stings,

                      but thank him for the other things.

Wonders

          When I look back with thanks at my first thousand blogs,
                         and remember the things that I saw,
         May the future still fill me with sights that will thrill me
                          with gratitude,wonder and awe!!

              My thanks to the friends who sent me their notes,
                     to acknowledge my thousandth blog
              Thanks to their backing, I'll just go on hacking,
                       'til the sun blows away all the fog.

Foggy lady

                          Today I find myself wrapped in a fog,

                     cuz I'm facing today my one thousandth blog;

                                and now, after a load like that, 
                          what do I have to pull out of my hat?

Shell game

                                 How is it the lowly oyster

                              has achieved such exotic esteem?

                         Just pay a fat price, present them on ice,

                               and you'll be society's queen!

Whaat???

                        I found this by chance in a file search.

                           It was quite a surprise, it's true;

               but I'll tell you the truth, it sent me through the roof,

                           so I wanted to share it with you!

Sourpuss

                                 I know I look pretty fearsome.

                            but this is not what I"m s'posed to be.

                   just once in a while Mother Nature goes wild,   

                                  and curses the lemon tree!

Warning

                                If you start seeing creatures like this one,

                             and they seem to be peering at you,

                  leave the movies alone and stay close to home,

                           or you'll start to believe they're true!

Remember?

                      Do you remember those early school days,

                              how attentive we all were then?

                      And nobody stirred so we'd catch every word,

                               were we ever like that again?

Pious pest

                       Herewith we have the praying mantis,

                         he does not indulge in any antics.

                               he is not pious, as they say,

                        the mantis does not pray, but prey.

Two-fer

                  Of all the things in the world  you can do,

               it's always more fun when you do it with two!

                          I probably wouldn't have liked it,

                              whatever it said or displayed,

               but it does catch your eye when you're just passing by,

                           to guess what it might have said.
